Our client, headquartered in Denmark, is a cleantech company founded as a spin-off from a Technological Institute. The company has developed a new passive membrane that, provides optimal solar shading. At the same time it ensures the best possible view out and pleasant daylight conditions. Together, these parameters raise the quality of the indoor climate significantly and at the same time reduce operating costs for building owners and their tenants.

The company just has developed a new product that will soon be released into the market.

To support the product introduction to distribution partners and cement partnership agreements, there is a vacancy for an experienced, high level global business development manager on an interim basis for a period of 6-9 months.

This role is a new position. You will bring the Global Commercial activities within Clients company to the next level. It is your task as Global Business Development Manager to prepare, negotiate and close distribution agreements with the leading glass manufacturers and other parties in the value chain of film/glass/facade products, to make the roll out of the new generation a big success.

In terms of awareness, Clients product and its superior qualities are yet relatively unknown in the market. The new Global Business Development Manager is required to put Client ‘on the map’ of the key industry players.

The role will involve a major part of travelling to global Customers/Distributors as well as to the Headquarters in Denmark.

  • Close distribution agreements and strategic partnerships
  • Create strategic relationships through networking and marketing with leading/ potential customers
  • Create a focused client case, present the story, vision and details around Client, and convince stakeholders all across the value chain as Clients representative (e.g. at industry events, and face to face meetings with senior corporate executives)
  • Ensure a professional relation and cooperation with the CEO and his team in Denmark
  • Assist in setting business and financial objectives for Clients business with the boundaries of a venture capital backed company
  • Consult with executive management in pursuing business partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures
  • Validate market and new business strategies
You have over 10 years Business Development experience in the Façade Industry (including glass) and/or the Construction Industry in combination with an extensive network, preferably in a venture capital financed environment. You understand the need for balance between building, structuring and growing the business. Integrity, professionalism, positive attitude and team focus are natural elements in your personality.

  • are a strong presenter, able to convince people naturally without overselling
  • have the ability to quickly get to the core on what drives the other side of the table, and their perception of the required solution
  • are a “get it done” type of personality
  • are passionate about the business and you have a natural curiosity to understand the full (technical) potential of the product
  • have a hands-on mentality and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • are a trustworthy person who holds the respect and loyalty of all stakeholders
  • show tenacity in pursuing goals, and stay focused in the face of opposition and ensure personal goals are aligned with the company objectives
  • are familiar with working in virtual teams across different locations across the world
  • are a fluent (native/near-native) English speaker
